And the 2012 Asian Hedge Fund Award goes to...

The conclusion of the Eurekahedge Asian Hedge Fund Awards that took place on 25th May 2012 at the Fairmont Singapore, marking another year of exceptional success celebrating the best and rewarding the finest of the attending 330 hedge fund players. Credit went to the top achievers of 2011 and 1Q 2012 and many new faces were welcomed among this year’s turnout.

Voted “Best Asia Hedge Fund of 2012″ was Segantii Asia-Pacific Equity Multi-Strategy Fund, which according to Reuters has more than doubled assets since mid-2011 to $550 million, defying a tough capital-raising environment and net outflows from Asian hedge funds during the period.

In 2008, fund manager Simon Adlers said this in an interview with EurekaHedge:

We are a multi-strategy trading oriented fund. This is in contrast to the majority of Asian hedge funds which are more fundamentally-driven long/short equity funds. Each of our strategies has individual strengths for different parts of the market cycle, enhancing our ability to generate absolute returns. We have the advantage of being able to stay nimble and capitalise on short-term opportunities. The core to our fund is disciplined implementation which we believe is important to successfully trade the current difficult market environment.
